A one day summer workshop 'wearables'.
In the framework of Open Set Summer School, the artist and researcher Ricardo O'Nascimento will lead a one-day long workshop at V2_ Institute on 31.07.2015, investigating this year’s theme Designing Experience: Moment – Stage – Memory.
Ricardo O'Nascimento is a Rotterdam based artist and researcher, co-founder of POPKALAB - a design/research studio focused on innovation on the field of wearable technology, new media and Interactive Art. He investigates body-environment relations focused on interface development for worn devices, interactive installations and hybrid environments.
O'Nascimento has received a large amount of awards including CYNETART award 2012 and Rumos Arte Cibernética. His works have been featured in several museums, galleries and art festivals like Ars Electronica, FILE, LABoral, V2–, Instituto Itaú Cultural, Soft Galleri, Transmediale and MAC - Coruña, among others.

Stipendium
This
year with the gathered effort of the organizers and Kunstblock partners
it is possible for the first time to offer a single stipendium, which
covers the full course fee. In order to apply for the stipendium, send
your portfolio and motivation letter to apply@openset.nl till the 1st of
June 2015. The winner will be announced on the 15th of June 2015 on the
Kunstblock Facebook page.
Open Set 2015
The fourth edition of Open Set will take place from 26.07 till
08.08.2015, which compiles a two-week long series of workshops, public
interventions, film-screenings and lectures. The event aims to promote
and enhance the social value of design by facilitating debates around
the chosen theme from a rich diversity of cross-disciplinary
perspectives and socially engaged cultural practices.
Open Set
has been invited by Kunstblock, a Rotterdam based foundation that has
been set up by five cultural institutions that reside on the Witte de
Withstraat. The different workshops and presentations that are part of
the Summer School take place in the different Kunstblock affiliated
locations.
The Open Set 2015 edition under the theme Designing
Experience: Moment – Stage – Memory examines creative strategies of
staging new experiences and their capability to provoke and influence
the construction of individual and collective identities. The event is
made possible due to contributions by design critic Max Bruinsma,
designers Jan van Toorn, Prem Krishnamurthy (Studio Project Projects,
USA), Studio Dumbar, procedural artist Martijn Engelbregt,
artist Annette Krauss, choreographer Bruno Listopad, researcher Florian
Cramer, design historian Els Kuijpers and others.
